Guadalajara, Mexico - The countries in North and South America have converged on Guadalajara, Mexico to compete in the 2011 Pan American Games. The Sunfish is one of nine sailing events that will contested on the waters off of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The other classes are the Laser Standard, Laser Radial, Snipe, Lightning, Hobie 16 and J24.
In route to capturing the gold, the 2011 Sunfish World Champion, Matheus Dellagnello of Brazil, dominated the regatta and won 8 of the 10 races. Dellagnello stood on the podium with 2008 Sunfish World Champion Paul Foerster of the United States in second place and Francisco Renna of Argentina in third.

Lake of Bracciano (Rome), Italy - From September 7-11, the 2011 European Championship was contested on the waters of Lake Bracciano. Matteus Dellagnello of Brazil continued his winning ways and captured the title in a dominating fashion. Andrea Milla (2nd), Umberto Valle and Luca Frascari (4th) had a hard fought battle to fill out the top three and finished the regatta separated by a point.
To promote and develop Sunfish Class one design racing worldwide under uniform rules, enhance the enjoyment of the boat and to provide an efficient medium of exchange of information and friendship among Sunfish sailors.
